end of the road, 2008
Hello, 2009!!
There has been TONS of fun stuff going on since my last post. Emily and I went to Pittsburgh for the first part of Hanukkah! We actually were able to stay for the first two candles too. It was nice to have a long weekend with my family, and Emmy and I took advantage of some downtime to just have a really nice, relaxing weekend. We cuddled on the couch, read books, cooked in the kitchen with my mom, and just all-around relaxed. Which was a good thing because the upcoming week was jam-packed with good times!!
As most of you know, Emmy's birthday is Dec 25, which means that she is fighting everyone's Christmas plans every year just to get people together on or near her birthday. Well, her mom and I decided to change all of that this year. Her mom threw her a giant family/friends surprise birthday party at casa de Garber-Schreiber on the day of her birthday. This, of course, required lots of sneakiness and maneuvering on my part to keep Em out of the house while it was all setup. This also meant our first trip to go workout at the JCC, which was loads of fun - more on that later. Emily was TOTALLY taken by surprise with that party! It was SO great to see all of her family and family-friends in her house and see the big smile on her face. :)
As most of you ALSO know, I was planning a party of my own for Emmy, the next day, at Bucca diBeppo. Emily alread knew some of the details because I shared some of them ahead of time so that a) she wouldn't be so bummed about her birthday this year, and b) she would know that we were doing something so there wouldn't be any conflicting plans. THAT party was amazing too. We had a big group for dinner, and everybody was soooo happy to be there for Emily, all the people who care about her and mean the most to her, surrounding her and celebrating her special day. Of course, since it was also Em's 21st birthday, Abby, Emmy, and I followed up dinner with a trip to the Pub for mucho drinking. We had a few different rounds of shots, including my favorite - the Irish Carbomb! It was funny introducing the two of them to my favorite drink of all time. I think Em is hooked - Abby may take some more convincing... lol. Our first waitress was a horrible bitch, but the manager made it right - moved us to another table, and picked up half our tab! Since Em and I had imbibed quite a bit, we took a cab back to her house, and got to spend the night cuddling together in a happy drunken fuzz. Hehe...
Emmy and I have been working SO hard at the JCC, we're both making a commitment to being more healthy and working out, and I have my own JCC card now, which makes me REALLY excited because now I will be able to go at least a couple times a week (maybe more often if my job location changes the way I am hoping it will). Soon I will be trim and fit and not a big ol tubbo like I am now... lol.
Anyway... it's just been such a fun, special couple of weeks with my baby, I wish this winter break would never end - it's just been so nice having my Poohbear around all this time. And best of all - tonight is new years, and I get a new years kiss with my baby! We are going on a cute double-date with her parents to the Belterra Casino for a concert with the Temptations and the Four Tops, followed by counting down to midnight back at her house, and then we're gonna go visit Tom & Milena at their place and Emmy will finally get to meet Feig!! I know, right? Finally meeting after only like 7 months... heh.
So, that's about all I got now. Someday Emmy will get around to posting pictures from all of those good times and I will re-post them here for your viewing pleasure.
