stop.... bourbon time! (can't touch this...)

I know. I know. Bad 90s reference joke. Sorry.

Anyway... I haven't been updating as much in my blog because it is, as you may have guessed, now the busy season at On Location wherein we work our asses off to promote a very noble cause - namely, BOURBON. (Hey, I love the stuff, so fuck off...) Not to mention the fact that if I'm NOT in the middle of working a 110 hour week, I then am spending my time *actually* talking to Emily or my family instead of writing about them, or else, heaven forbid, sleeping!! But now that I have a few moments to collect my thoughts, an update, here's for your reading pleasure!

So the first major event of our busy season is the Kentucky Bourbon Festival (or "Bourbon Fest" as we call it at OLLS). Incredibly, Emily made the drive from Nashville all the way to Bardstown, KY (Bourbon capital of the world!) to see me and come to the Wild Turkey Boots n Bourbon party! It was INCREDIBLE having her hanging out with us there, and she even got me up on the dance floor with her (although I'm a horrible party dancer, slow-dancing with my baby made me SOOOO happy.)

We also worked on the Bourbon-related parties for Ryder Cup and all the booths for the KYBF tasting/Gala event. So all in all, it was a crazy couple weeks there.

The show I just did this past week was the Xavier University Founder's Day Benefit and Banquet at the Cintas Center on the XU campus. THAT was a cool-looking show. The banquet honored an XU alum who owns and runs Home City Ice here in Cincinnati, so the theme for the party was ice-related, and they had us light and fog the west concourse of the Cintas Center like an ice-box (see picture above). There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING, that I love more about our industry than putting low-lying fog and atmospheric haze where it is not normally used.

However, my MOST favorite thing that has happened in the past few weeks was that when I made the decision to work a 14 hour day to bust through everything for Bourbon Fest and get myself a free weekend off, I was able to go visit my baby in Nashville. Wanna talk about a special weekend? We didn't GO anywhere or do anything, we just hung out, cuddled, Emmy showed me around the campus, and we went to a couple of awesome restaurants, and most of all, I got to spend two nights in my baby's arms on a weekend when she really needed me to be there for her. THAT was amazing. So between visiting Emmy in Nashville, and dancing with her in Bardstown, I have never ever been more positive that Emily is the woman I want to marry - the one I want to spend the rest of my life with. I love you baby!!

date night! (a few days late...)

So I know I forgot to post this before the last entry, but I was waiting till I had pictures. (Don't blame Emily... her SD card reader wasn't working and school, as I well know, is BUSY and time for fun stuff is limited.) Before Emily left for her first week of school at Vanderbilt, we had us a for-real genuine date night. We went out to dinner at Kona Bistro and then had ice cream down the block at this AWESOME old ice cream shop, Aglamesis Brothers. (I think we also make a pretty awesome-looking couple, if I do say so myself, though I'm gonna attribute 90% of that to Emily, as she is quite the beautiful lady.

I'm so lucky to have somebody I'm in love with like this... my baby is the best!

happy labor day!

Well! This has been quite the packed weekend! Emily came into town for the weekend because her mom had to have a procedure done and Emily wanted to be home to help take care of her.

It ALSO happened to be the weekend that Rascall Flatts was playing Riverbend, and I got us tickets for Friday night!! Traffic was SOOOO bad coming into Riverbend that we missed about half of Taylor Swift's opener act, but we got to see ALL of RF and it was an AMAZING show! They played all of my favorites and I liked being there with Emily SO MUCH I had a really great time!

Saturday was the KSO concert in Devou Park which didn't go too badly. The loadin went a lot longer than I expected but the loadout went much faster than I expected, so it balanced out. (Sorry no pictures of it this year...)

THEN, quite possibly the coolest Labor Day celebration I've ever had... Emily's family invited me out on their boat for the WEBN fireworks! It's her Uncle Fred's boat, and was VERY cool to be out on it. There was a hairy moment when he was trying to get the anchor settled amongst all the other boat traffic on the river, but it was such a special night to be out on the river with my baby and her family! The weather was absolutely perfect, and I couldn't have asked for better company, of course. :)

So, today, which is actually labor day, is gonna be a VERY lazy day, which I think is appropriate given the nature of the holiday. Heh. My baby is back at school, and I miss her lots and lots and lots, but we'll see each other again soon. For now I just have to snuggle up with Slugger or Rosie when I feel lonely. (Slugger being the Build-A-Bear she made for me when I made a KungFuPanda for her.)

I guess what's about it for the weekend... here's hoping that all the stuff I have to do this week goes well, too!
